During this, Kiara manages to run off and ends up bumping into a cub named Kovu. Timon and Pumbaa start lunch and end up arguing over whether slimy or crunchy bugs are better. Did you say something, princess?" Kiara refutes, "I'm not just a princess you know! That's only half of who I am!" When Pumbaa asks Kiara what her other half is, she can't think of a reply. Agrivated she growls, "Will somebody please just listen to me!" Timon turns to her and replies, "I wasn't listening. He then grabs a fern leaf to "protect" Kiara from the sun, which she bats away. As they get out of the water he says, "Now princess Kiara, as Simba's daughter, you know better than to run off all alone, you could've been hurt." The mention of Kiara getting hurt frightens Timon (Who's worried what Simba would do to them if that happened.), and he checks her over for various things including a slipped disk, a fever, and a hangnail. Is there a problem with that?" Pumbaa notices bubbles and gets off of Kiara. Timon nervously practices what he'll say to Simba: "Gee Simba. The good news is we found your daughter.the bad news is we dropped a warthog on her. Timon and Pumbaa sneak up behind her, startling her and causing her to fall into the water. She pounces onto a rock and gets a glimpse of the Outlands, becoming curious. Meanwhile the princess is chasing a butterfly and pretending to be a mighty hunter. She'll be fine." However when Nala re enters the den, Simba sends Timon and Pumbaa to watch over Kiara. Nala nuzzles him and explains, "She's just like you were when you were young." Seriously, Simba replies, "Exactly! Do you know the dangers we put ourselves in?" Nala, mock offended, pins him and corrects him, "You mean the dangers you, put us in. Simba is confused by her statement and asks who. As she prances off, Simba yells after her "And stay on the path I've marked for you!" Nala chuckles and asks Simba who Kiara reminds him of. Simba smiles and says lightly, "Very funny." Nala comes in and gently says, "Mind your father, Kiara." Kiara giggles slightly while replying "Yes, mom." Simba then warns her to "stay away form the Outlands." Zazu then flies in and adds "Nothing there but a bunch of backstabbing, murderous, Outsiders." Simba agrees and adds, "You can't turn your back on them." Kiara is puzzled and asks, "Really? How come?" Simba tells her she'll understand someday and to go play. Kiara knows these rules by heart and begs her father to let her go play. However her father, Simba, goes over the rules with her to stay in sight of Pride Rock and not to talk to strangers. Time passes and Kiara grows into a playful young cub who loves to explore.
